Hereford's Blockbuster dodges the axe

HEREFORD'S largest DVD rental store has survived the latest run of closures by Blockbuster.

Administrators Deloitte announced yesterday that a further 164 branches would close as the company looks to find a buyer – however the Commercial Road location has dodged the axe for the second time in a month.

Vouchers will still be honoured and business continues as normal despite the “restructuring”.

Lee Manning, joint administrator at Deloitte, said: "We have continued to review the performance of individual stores since our appointment a month ago and have concluded that further closures are necessary in order to restructure the company for sale.

"We are in discussions with a number of parties interested in purchasing all or parts of the business and will update on progress in due course."
