THE HEREFORD Food Bank is making the move to a bigger premises.
It is hoped the move to Aubrey Street in Hereford will take place towards the end of the month.
Jackie Boys, the social responsibility officer for the Diocese of Hereford, said: “We are very much looking forward to moving into the new premises as we will have much more space and all our activities will be able to take place under one roof.
“It’s also a very central location for people making deliveries to the Food Bank or case workers coming to collect parcels of food. We have a lot of new volunteers on board and are hoping that the Food Bank will be open every weekday for referrals.”
However, around £2,000 is needed to ensure the new base is ready to be occupied, and the Food Bank is also appealing for other necessities, such as any spare supermarket trolleys to help cart the food parcels as well as tinned meats, fruits and jams, coffee, breakfast cereals, toilet paper and toothpaste.
Call Jackie on 01432 373311 if you can make a donation. Food gifts can be brought to a collection point at the Hereford Times office on Holmer Road, Hereford Cathedral, All Saints’ Church or the diocesan office at the Bishop’s Palace.
- Meanwhile one of Hereford’s biggest businesses is helping ensure there is enough food for everyone this year.
Leading payment specialist Allpay has teamed up with the Churches in Hereford Action Team (CHAT) to launch the Together We CAN campaign, which will see them collecting canned foods to help feed those facing financial hardship in Hereford.
As sponsors of Gloucester Rugby they are also encouraging fans to take cans to a match on February 22, which will be split between food banks in
Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester.
