MP backs beef

NORTH Herefordshire MP Bill Wiggin has spoken up for British beef producers in the wake of the horsemeat scandal.

He spoke twice in the House of Commons Chamber on Monday and Tuesday, stating he was concerned that “nobody seems to care about”

British beef producers who have seen their products “replaced by poor fakes”.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Wiggin said consumers and farmers were being “ripped off” and retailers had created a “crisis” with their “double standards”.

He urged people to buy British produce if they wanted to guarantee the contents and the source of their food.
