A HEREFORDSHIRE woman is doing her bit to help the Haven on Mothering Bunday.
Julia Thomas from Much Birch called the Hereford- based breast cancer support centre ‘a lifesaver’, which was with her every step of the way when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 – two months after discovering she was pregnant.
After deciding to cut dairy out of her diet she started experimenting with her own wheat, gluten and dairy free cakes, which led to the creation of successful business Cake Angels.
Julia said as a thank you for the support she received from them, she will always support the Haven in any way she can, with Mothering Bunday being no exception.
“During my treatment I could get nutritional advice, was given reflexology before chemotherapy which really helped, and there was always someone to talk to that you could say anything to.
“They were just great, so Charlie and I will be baking cakes for my husband’s birthday which is on Mothering Bunday.” Mothering Bunday takes place on March 10 and people can support the initiative by baking treats and selling them to raise funds.
Any money raised can be donated by visiting www.thehaven.org.uk or sending them to Bunday, The Hereford Haven, 37 St Owen street, Hereford, HR1 2JB.
