Council's cuts plan confirmed

ELEVEN councillors ducked out of the biggest decision Herefordshire Council has had to take, as members backed a cuts plan that savages services affecting every aspect of daily life in the county.

But the biggest name among the abstainers at Monday’s full council meeting defended his stand saying the plan that, on paper, pitched cuts to cover a £10m shortfall on the 2013/14 budget alone, simply did not offer enough information for members to make an informed decision.

Speaking after the meeting, Councillor Alan Seldon, chairman of overview and scrutiny, said the plan put officers in an “impossible” position when there was doubt as to whether or not the proposed savings could actually be delivered.

well thats reassuring.
they really dont know what there doing.
after all its only 10 Million worth of cuts.
how did the ones who voted decide?

best guess?
throwing darts blindfold at a big yes/no?
russian roulette"we can only hope"?
pin the tail on the budget?

if this is how its done why dont we just
hire a bunch of monkeys to throw their
own poo at a big yes/no board.

its cheaper "they work for peanuts".
and you get the same result.
plus they will drink tap water.
and there banana expence claims are minimal.
and they dont mind staying in ONLY 3 star accommodation.

sigh another day another kick in the crown jewels from our glorious"incompetent
" council.

It's a pity that the very expensive HT have not named the 11 Cllrs who bottled out and abstained. That's a real cop out for the Cllrs. If the decision YES or NO is to hard for them perhaps they should give their reason loud and clear or resign.

Here here, Ubique. They have no backbone. If enough information was not available, then how the hell did any of them reach a decision? This is important stuff, which is going to effect us all - it should have been a cards on the table meeting. If it wasn't,then I totally agree with mightyboosh's suggestion, and bring in the apes!
