County doctor heads to new heights for charity
9:00am Wednesday 27th February 2013 in News
COUNTY “brain doc” Dave Quinn has a head for heights.
Dave has just climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to help raise money for two local charities, Herefordshire Headway and the MS Society.
The seven-hour, 20,000 foot climb up Africa’s tallest peak is the latest of the many challenges Dave has set himself to help raise awareness of head injuries and the local NHS and charity support available. More than £1,400 has been donated so far in support of the climb.
Dave runs the acquired brain injury support service at Wye Valley NHS Trust, which includes the brain injury rehabilitation programme. The programme provides support for people with a brain injury to develop new ways of managing their condition to improve their quality of life and day to day living skills.
Climbing Kilimanjaro was, says Dave, “amazing, utterly unforgettable and exhausting”.
