A PRIMARY school will be making use of free energy from the sun to cut its running costs and have more money to buy books.
Pendock Primary School is the only school in Worcestershire taking part in the Solar Schools project, organised by carbon cutting movement 10:10.
Over the last few months, the school has raised £9,170 to install solar panels, with the fundraising being completed when electricity company Good Energy donated £3,050.
West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin visited the school to find out more about the project.
She said: “The solar panel project is another example of how the community works together to help improve its facilities, not just for the pupils, but also the village.”
Chair of the school’s friends, Mechteld Blake- Kalff, said: “We were delighted Harriett Baldwin visited our school. She came to celebrate with us that we have reached our target raising funds for solar panels. We are hoping to have our panels installed very soon.”
