A CAT owner’s monthlong search for her prized pet ended when she found him in a disused pub.

Susan Shirley, of Wellington Heath, near Ledbury, was walking past the empty Farmers Arms a month after her beloved pet Kuching vanished – and to her astonishment, saw him looking out of the window at her.

Mrs Shirley said: “When he went missing we didn’t know what to do. He’s a very shy little cat and we couldn’t understand what had happened to him.”

Inquiries around the village proved fruitless, and Mrs Shirley and her husband Edward feared they had seen the last of their pet.

She said: “I was so surprised to see him in the window. I don’t know if he had been in the pub all that time, but if he hadn’t been locked in there, why didn’t he come home?"

Mrs Shirley managed to get the window open and took Kuching, a white British short-hair aged six, back home.

She guesses Kuching kept thirst at bay by drinking from toilets, but he hadn't been eating much, as he had lost half of his body weight.
