Owner wants to know more about rare Jag
9:30pm Tuesday 5th March 2013 in News By Robert Hale
HISTORY: John McVitie owned the E-type jaguar in the 70s.
A CAR enthusiast is looking for information about the previous owners of a rare sports car that he owns, which once belonged to a Malvern auto dealer.
Alex Mamas, of Orpington, in Kent, bought the Jaguar E-Type Series 3, Commemorative Model, in August 2005 from Woodmanton Classic Cars, a specialist Jaguar dealer at Collington, near Bromyard.
The term Commemorative Model means that the car is one of a very limited edition built right at the end of the E-Type Series 3’s production run.
He said: “It was a demonstrator used by Rothwell and Milbourne during the mid- 1970s, being owned by John and Judy McVitie, who were the garage owners at that time. Its registration number at that time was ALM 30, “I believe the history of a vehicle to be as important as the condition so anything that can be found out would be greatly appreciated.”
He wants to hear from anyone who has information about the car, its owners, and the Rothwell and Milbourne garage, which used to be on Worcester Road, between the town centre and Link Top.
His wife Maxine said: “My husband is very keen on Jaguars and he has four working E-Types at the moment, and two XKEs, one on the road and one not.
Because this one is a commorative model, it doesn’t go out on the road.”
