Writer thanks supporters after grim dog discovery

AN author has been left heartbroken after discovering his lost dog dead on a railway track in Herefordshire.

Geraint Anderson says Murphy, who had been missing for 10 days, was found on the line near Pandy and believes he could have been stolen and then dumped there.

The grim discovery comes just days before Geraint's wife, Emma, is due to give birth to their second child.

A Facebook campaign raising awareness of the missing five-year-old collie- terrier cross attracted hundreds of followers.

“We were visiting my parents-in-law who live in the Black Mountains when he escaped,” said the 40-yearold author of the bestselling Cityboy series from Crickhowell.

“He just suddenly left their house.

"He’s never done that before and we suspect he was taken.

“We thought we would get him back and took on a military-like campaign but he was found only a mile or two from where he was lost.

“He was our first dog and the loveliest, friendliest one you could meet.”

Geraint, who moved from London two years ago, said that despite the sadness there was a positive side to the search.

“I know there are many dog lovers in the area but I was overwhelmed by how kind people have been,” he added. “You just don’t expect that having lived most of my life in London.”
