Sentencing of disgraced MP Chris Huhne and ex-wife Vicky Pryce: live blog

Chris Huhne Chris Huhne

Disgraced former MP Chris Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce were today sentenced to eight months' jail each for perverting the course of justice.

Former Cabinet minister Huhne and economist Pryce have been warned by Mr Justice Sweeney to be under no illusion about what punishment they face at Southwark Crown Court.

Pryce, aged 60, was found guilty last week of perverting the course of justice by taking speeding points for Huhne, 58, in 2003. The former energy secretary pleaded guilty.

Perverting the course of justice carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with an average sentence of around 10 months.

They knowingly broke the law. Then they both lied about it over a period of about 10 years, even after they had been questioned about the offence and confronted with the evidence, they still insisted they were innocent. She even lied about it in court.
Some people obviously think the law of the land doesn't apply to them. They got what they deserved IMO.
Also, it's a shame the law doesn't put as much effort into prosecuting other offenders of this nature.

Should have got longer as they show no reguard for the law, the electors and i hope the courts award damages to be paid back to the taxpayer as we should not be paying for this court case.
