Hereford Cathedral's lilies for loved ones

TV PRESENTER Jules Hudson visited Hereford Cathedral to launch this year's Easter lily appeal.
The annual campaign lets supporters sponsor a lily to remember loved ones or give thanks for a special event during the past year.
Over recent years lilies have been given to mark events ranging from the arrival of grandchildren, the safe return of a serving son or daugther in the military, or to remember parents that had died years before.
“Throughout the year so many draw pleasure from the beauty of the cathedral being decorated with flowers,” said Jules, a regular presenter of the BBC’s Escape to the Country and Countryfile.
“When the building is left bare of arrangements during Lent, it only heightens the sensation when on Easter Day hundreds of lilies seemingly appear from nowhere and the air is filled with their wonderful scent.
“By sponsoring a lily you are able to support the cathedral and celebrate lives that are special to you.”
Sponsors receive a special card celebrating the individuals and events remembered, along with an invitation to join the congregation at services held between Good Friday and Easter Day.
Sponsorship forms can be obtained from the cathedral or Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust on 01432 374261.
