Popular road to be open summer

WORK on mending the damaged wall at the Knapp Lane/Homend junction will start just after the Easter break, and should take 14 weeks.

This means the popular “rat run” between the Worcester Road and Ledbury Town Centre will not be re-open again until mid-summer, which is slightly later than originally expected.

Agreement has just been reached between the wall’s owner and Herefordshire Council.

One of Ledbury’s county councillors Liz Harvey said: “I and other ward members will continue to work with the council contractor, Amey, and others to minimise the detrimental impact of this extended closure on the people living in Knapp Lane, Bank Crescent and Homend Crescent.”

Knapp Lane has been closed since last September.
