Thieves take car, leave bike

THIEVES stole a family 4x4 with over £500 worth of tools in the back – and left a bike with two punctured tyres in its place.

The audacious theft occurred from right outside Bill Montague’s house, ‘The Bank’ in Preston On Wye, overnight on Monday.

The car – a B-Reg Daihatsu Fourtrak (registration B739 TVJ) - was passed down to Mr Montague from his late father, with “the smashing old thing” having real sentimental value to both Billy and his sister Heather Gorringe.

“I think they must have stole the bike – it was covered in dust and looked like it’d come out of someone’s shed,” said Mr Montague.

“I just hope this person dumps the car as well.”

Given the age of the 29-year-old Daihatsu, Mrs Gorringe said they thought it must have been some kind of prank, despite a “spate of burglaries” in the area.

Mr Montague urges anyone who may have seen the Daihatsu to contact the police.
