A DOG owner is celebrating after her prized pooch was a treble winner at Crufts.

Ann Rees, of Much Marcle, was delighted at golden retriever Maisie’s (Dasmaks Elladorah) peformance during Gundog day.

She said: “I was so pleased just to qualify. Friday afternoon was spent bathing and trimming until she looked beautiful.

“She couldn't wait to get in the ring, being a total show off.

“She strutted her stuff for the judge in the yearling class and stood still while he examined her.

“To my great surprise and delight she won the class out of 31 dogs.”

She added: “We were all elated, jumping up and down and crying with emotion.

“She then went on to win the undergraduate class as well.

“It was totally amazing.”

The unexpected successes meant that Maisie had to wait to go in the final line up for best bitchclass.

These were dizzy heights for a dog that usually enjoys “rolling in mud and other unmentionable things”.

Mrs Rees said: “We waited with anticipation to go back into the ring for the line up for best bitch.

“Once again she flew round the ring and really showed herself off.

“To our absolute delight and amazement she won the Reserve CC which qualifiesher for Crufts for life.

“To say emotions were running high was an understatement, and much hugging and kissing was partaken all round.”

She added: “It was a day trulynever tobe forgotten.”
