A POPULAR free museum has opened for the new season with a new look and an appeal for extra volunteers.

The half-timbered Butcher Row Museum in Ledbury's Church Lane, is now open seven days a week from 11am to 5pm each day thanks to the army of dedicated volunteers.

Each volunteer is asked to carry out at least a two-hour stint every fortnight, and the Ledbury and District Civic Society, which runs the museum, has just enough volunteers on the rota for the full planned programme.

But Civic Society trustee Prue Yorke said that more help was still required to cover holiday periods and illness.

The museum, famous for its ancient hip bath, Civil War helmet and a Tibetan flute made from a human leg bone, has been re-arranged for the new season, and there is a new display for postcards and leaflets.

Anyone wishing to get involved can do so by phoning Mrs Yorke on 01531 633655.
