A NUMBER of sheds have been broken into in the Golden Valley recently.

Police report that at least 12 sheds have been targeted in Walterstone, Longtown and Vowchurch, which have included gardening tools worth more than £1,000 being stolen, as well as heating oil and expensive sheep shearing equipment.

“Some of these incidents were attempts, where it is obvious that someone has tried to get into a shed but has left empty handed,” said Inspector Pete Gebbie.

“However, many people have had items stolen from their sheds.

“It is mainly garden tools which have been taken, along with some agricultural equipment, so we would also urge farmers to be vigilant too.

“In light of this, we are asking people to keep an eye out for any vehicles or people acting suspiciously, especially if they don’t appear to be from the local area.”
