Ox roast cheque is handed to hospice

A CHEQUE for £7,500, proceeds from this year's Ledbury Ox Roast celebration has been presented to St Michael’s Hospice.
But the final tally from June’s event is expected to exceed £8,000.
At an event at Orchard Farm, Ox Roast committee chairman Norman Stanier asked the committee treasurer Bernie Robertson to present the cheque to the chief executive of the hospice, Nicky West.
She said: “I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome and this magnificent achievement. It is through people such as you, and the funds you have raised that enables St Michael’s Hospice to continue and sustain its vital work and the care needed for those in our community”.
As an extra surprise, former Ledbury mayoress, Judy Conway presented more than £155 – a sum raised through a table topsale.
Mr Stanier said the whole experience of organising the ox roast, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Coronation, could not have been possible without the co-op
