Summer fun for all ages at centre fete
GOING PLACES: There was plenty to do during the weekend at the first summer fate by Malvern's newest community centre.
THE first-ever summer fete at Malvern’s newest community centre was a great success.
The event, at Malvern Vale Community Centre, attracted about 400 people on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Community worker Chris Reed said: “The forecast was a bit mixed, saying it would be quite cloudy, but in the event the sun shone on us.
“We had a good mixture of people from Malvern Vale and from further afield, as we’d given it quite a lot of publicity.”
Visitors had the chance to take part in drumming workshops with Drum Love, while Dippy the Clown entertained the youngsters with puppetry and magic.
Face-painting and balloon modelling were also on offer, as well as fairground games, bar and cafe and a pig roast.
Among the visitors was local district councillor Graham Myatt, who said: “I much enjoyed my visit to the fete last Saturday.
“Such fine weather, excellent stalls and a big turn-out all contributed to the success.”
He congratulated all those who helped put on the event, which he said showed that the centre is really “going places”.
The centre opened its doors earlier this year to serve the estate built on the former North Site.
