West End glitz a hit for Ledbury Carnival
WEST End glitz coupled with glorious sunshine made Ledbury’s 39th annual carnival a resounding success.
The West End theme saw thousands gather to watch a range of decorated floats including Grease, Guy and Doll, Mary Poppins and Wizard of Oz pass through the town with spectacular costumes. Ledbury town crier Bill Turberfield led the parade and was followed by St Andrew's Scottish Pipe and Drum band, lorries and floats, the Coventry Bugle Band, cheerleaders with golden pompoms, and volunteers with collection buckets.
Carnival organiser Hilary Jones said: "It has been wonderful, incident- free with a great turnout and we are delighted that so many organisations participated and a greater number of young people than ever were on floats.”
