Changes to stray dog collection service to save Herefordshire Council £12,000 a year
10:45am Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
CHANGES to the county’s stray dog collection service are set to save Herefordshire Council £12,000 a year.
The service will no longer operate an out-of-hours collection service on weekends or after 5pm on weekdays.
Instead, anyone in possession of a stray dog will be asked to take it to the council’s kennels between 8am and 9pm on any day of the week.
If this is not convenient, people will be contacted by the council’s dog collection service during office hours – 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday – and arrangements will be made to collect the dog directly.
The change is part of the council’s plan to reduce overall budgets and it is estimated that £12,000 will be saved a year.
