Best paws forward for fund-raiser
5:00pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
PET lovers and their canine companions are invited to put their best paws forward and raise money for charity.
The National Trust’s Brockhampton Estate, near Bromyard, is hosting a sponsored dog walk to raise money for the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) and Guide Dogs charities on Sunday, October 6.
There will be a choice of one-mile, one-and-a-half mile and two-mile routes through the estate, all are suitable for people of any age or ability.
Rachel Read, fund-raising officer at RNC, which is based in Hereford, said many of the college’s students are also Guide Dogs users. “Our two charities are keen to work together, so a sponsored dog walk is an ideal event,” she said. Ben Rendle is a student at RNC as well as chairman of the Herefordshire branch of Guide Dogs. He said: “Both RNC and Guide Dogs have been instrumental in giving me back my independence and confidence. Without them I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today.”
The walk runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm and costs £5 per dog, or per family walking without a dog. Sponsor forms are available on 01432 376371 or fundraising @rnc.ac.uk. To register online, visit rnc.ac.uk/fundraising.
