Rossiter Books presents Sir Roy Strong in conversation at Monmouth's Shire Hall
9:48am Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
SIR Roy Strong will be at the Shire Hall in Monmouth at 7pm on Wednesday, talking about his early influences and inspirations.
For nearly half a century, Sir Roy Strong has enjoyed a high public profile in the arts world in Britain. Yet remarkably little is known about his life before the Swinging 60s when he burst upon the scene as the revolutionary young director of the National Portrait Gallery.
His autobiography, Self Portrait as a Young Man, changes all that. In it he recounts for the first time the story of his social origins and the roots of his life-long passion for the culture and history of our country.
As well as his contribution to the cultural life of the country - his last post was as director of the Victoria and Albert Museum - Sir Roy Strong is known for the beautiful Laskett Gardens in Herefordshire, created with his late wife, Dr Julia Trevelyan Oman.
Tickets are £5 each with £3 redeemable against the book at the event. They are available at rossiterbooks.co.uk or Rossiters’ Monmouth and Ross shops.
