Man suffers collapsed lung after falling from tree
A MAN suffered a collapsed lung after falling out of a tree in the early hours of this morning.
He was injured after falling about 30 feet from a tree in a wooded area near Sherridge Road, Leigh Sinton, near Malvern, at about 1.20am.
An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer attended the scene, which was about 70 metres from the road, and discovered the man with a group of fellow campers down a steep embankment.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “One of the campers, a man, had reportedly fallen approximately 30 feet from a tree.
“Due to the location of the incident and the limited light available, crews carried out an initial assessment at the scene, treating the man for a potential spinal injury and chest pain.
“The man was fully immobilised and carefully carried back to the awaiting ambulance where crews carried out further assessment.
“The man was treated at the scene for a collapsed lung before being conveyed to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
“The hospital was pre-alerted and medics were on standby awaiting the man’s arrival.”
