A ROYAL Navy warship which carries the name of Ledbury all over the world is under new command.
Lieutenant Commander Simon Pressdee has been appointed as the new commander of HMS Ledbury, taking over from childhood friend Lt Cdr Justin Hains, under whose command the Portsmouth-based ship and its crew spent seven months in the Arabian Gulf and three months in the Mediterranean and northern Red Sea on a NATO anti-mine operation.
Lt Cdr Pressdee, aged 38, who joined the Royal Navy in 1994, said: “Assuming command of HMS Ledbury is a huge privilege for me,”
“I am looking forward to working with my crew to fulfil a busy programme.”
His first deployment with the ship will be to the Baltic later this year.
