A LEOMINSTER man has clocked up 20 years as a retained firefighter.
Paul Healey admits the job can be tough at times, but is extremely rewarding.
The 40-year-old, who has an electronics shop in the town – Computer Knowledge – says the position of a retained firefighter is now much more difficult to come by.
“It’s getting more and more difficult when you have to rely on employers letting people go from their normal jobs,” he added.
“There aren’t so many people that are in a position to join now as many people don’t tend to both live and work in Leominster.”
Paul, a father of three, added that relatives also have to be understanding.
“My family have had to put up with so much and me missing various things,” he said. “But they’ve always supported me.”
