Art charity auction hailed a big success
A CHARITY auction of art works at a gallery near Malvern on Sunday was a great success, say organisers.
The auction, at Blue Ginger gallery and cafe in Cradley, has raised more than £1,400 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
It was held as part of the National Campaign for Drawing Big Draw campaign.
There were more than 70 pieces of artwork from professional artists. All sold.
There were also 150 entries from local children at Cradley School, Storridge Toddler Group and Little Growbags nursery.
The highest bid received was more than £100 for a painting of a hare by famous children’s author and illustrator Jackie Morris.
Gallery owner Sue Lim said: “The auction was great fun, and thanks to the generosity of artists and bidders, this is the highest total we have raised in the five years we have been taking part in the National Campaign for Drawing.
“Mandie Fitzgerald, community fundraising officer for Acorns, was there, and was delighted with the amount raised.”
