Leominster Apple Fair: Town gets real boost from fruits of its labour
IT was a weekend of fruity fun in Leominster for the town’s 15th apple fair.
More than 140 varieties of apples were on show, including cider fruit and other rare types.
Hundreds of people packed into the Priory Church and organiser Felicity Norman said the fair has now evolved into a key autumn event.
“Along with other local initiatives it is playing a part in boosting the town’s vitality,” she added.
A panel of experts from the Marcher Apple Network was kept busy identifying apples brought in by people and entertainment was provided by the Jenny Pipes Morris Dancers and Hereford's Cider City Jazz Band.
Apple fair-related activities continue this week with Leominster pubs, cafes and coffee houses hosting an Apple Dish Trail.
