Herefordshire twins get to be Tigers stars for the day
9:24am Friday 25th October 2013 in News
TWINS Elliott and Jonas Crabtree were given the trip of a lifetime when they spent a day rubbing shoulders with some of England’s top rugby players.
The nine-year-old brothers from Wigmore were mascots for the day at a recent Leicester Tigers match.
The pair ran out with England hero Toby Flood before meeting some of the players, collecting autographs and dining in the VIP suite.
The day was organised in tribute to their father Stuart.
The 37-year-old died earlier this year after a long battle with cancer.
It was arranged by Peter Tom, who is chairman of both Breedon Aggregates – where Stuart worked – and the Leicester Tigers.
Both twins play for Bedstone College in under - nines rugby. Elliott typically represents his Bucknell school in the back row while Jonas is found on the wing.
The match itself saw the Tigers fighting back in the second half to secure a 19- 19 draw against Northampton Saints.
The twins’ mother Samantha thanked Peter Tom, the Tigers management and the team for giving the boys such “wonderful”
VIP treatment and a day they will “always remember”.
