High Court judge sits at Hereford Crown Court

THERE was a “historic” appearance at Hereford Crown Court last Thursday when a High Court judge heard cases in the city for the first time in many years.

The Honourable Mr Justice Flaux sat in full red robes, with the Vice Lord-Lieutenant also in attendance.

As the High Court judge responsible for the Midlands, the Honourable Mr Justice Flaux was responsible for sentencing for bringing to justice major players in the Libor banking scandal.

And while High Court judges occasionally preside over cases in regional courts, it remains a rare sight in Hereford.

“This has been a historic day, to be in this court,” said the Honourable Mr Justice Flaux.

“And may I commend both representatives for the way they have dealt with some particularly tricky cases.”
