A CHILD'S burial stone has been stolen from a church near Ross-on-Wye.

The bottom half of the stone burial slab was taken from behind the pulpit in St Mary's Church in Foy.

The stone is believed to be more than 100 years old and was taken some time last month.

The top half of the stone was stolen two years ago.

Anyone with information can call police on 101.

Police are seeking information about the theft of a child’s burial stone from a Herefordshire church.
The bottom half of the stone burial slab was taken from behind the pulpit in St Mary’s Church, Foy, Ross-on-Wye.
It’s thought the heavy one-metre high stone was stolen during November and is likely to have needed two people to load it onto a vehicle.
Police have issued an appeal for information to identify the offenders.
The theft was reported on 6 December but is thought to have happened several weeks earlier.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “This is a shocking incident – theft of a child’s burial stone from inside a church. We would welcome any information which might help us trace the culprits and also the missing stone.
“Contact the police on 101 or call the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111”.
