THIEVES rammed a lorry-load of stolen diesel through the gates of an agricultural co-operative in Hay-on-Wye yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a lorry with a large quantity of diesel on board was driven away from Hay and Brecon Farmers on Newport Street, Hay-on-Wye, between midnight and 12 noon yesterday (Thursday).

Offenders broke in to the company – an agricultural co-operative – and made their way to two diesel pumps at the back of the compound.

They stole 4,500 litres of red and white diesel, worth £4,500, which they used to fill at least 20 containers they found on site.

They loaded them on to a green Leyland Daf box van delivery vehicle belonging to the co-operative which they used to ram their way through the main gates –  taking them off their hinges.

More than £2,000 worth of damage was caused at the site.

Witnesses can call PC Welton-Wall on 101 quoting incident 48-s-121213 or ring the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
