A BAND whose members all follow their local cashstrapped football team hope their new single will be noteperfect.

King Mantis hope to boost club coffers for Hereford United by remaking club anthem Hereford United (We All Love You). The original song was recorded in the 1970s having been penned by Danny Lee, who died in 2007, and is regularly sung by supporters of the Conference club, which is losing £30,000 a month.

The song can be downloaded for £1.50 with all profits going directly to Hereford United. “As supporters we’ve been involved with fundraising by playing gigs, but wanted to do even more as the club are going through really tough times,” said the band in a statement following the launch of the single.

“The problem is real and is happening right now so we had to act fast. It was at these gigs that we were requested by the club to first play the song. It was both an honour and a bit nervy with members of Danny Lee’s family in the crowd but we were pleased to see them singing along. Since then we’ve been inundated with texts, e-mails and requested to play it at pretty much every Hereford gig we play.”

The new song was played at Hereford United’s recent home game with Nuneaton when band members were guests of the club. To download, visit songstall.com/ herefordunitedweallloveyou.
