A CYCLIST has died in hospital following a crash with a car in Newent at the weekend.

The 37-year-old man, from the town, was riding his bike on Glasshouse Hill at about 3.30pm on Sunday when he was in collision with a grey Volkswagen Passat.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with life -threatening head injuries and subsequently transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, but later died.

The driver of the car was unhurt.

The road was closed until 6.30pm while a collision investigation took place.

Anyone who witnessed the crash but has not spoken to police should call 101, quoting incident 289 of December 8.
