THE president of Ledbury Rotary Club has certainly got his sums right and in doing so he has helped a charity for adults with learning difficulties.

When Rob Hooper became president, he made a commitment to support Salter’s Hill in Ledbury as his preferred charity for the year.

Fund-raising included the fireworks display, helping at the Welland Steam Rally and at the Madresfield Car show, in addition to, the traditional street collections and other activities.

The amount raised, a grand total of £4,282, was presented recently to the staff at Salter’s Hill Charity in Falcon Lane.

The money has been used specifically to purchase a smart board, a kind of electronic and interactive giant chalk board.

Mr Hooper said: “I used to be a volunteer at Salter’s Hill many years ago and recognised the important and often unsung work being done at Salter’s Hill, so when the opportunity arose for me to help in a practical way, I wanted to provide something which would benefit the students.”

Salter’s Hill manager Julie Newman said the smart board had already proved extremely popular with students who were using it for learning, research and communication to great effect.

She said the charity relied on the generosity of organisations such as Rotary and staff and students alike were delighted and grateful for the gift of the smart board.
