New footpath to be laid in Hereford

A NEW footpath is to be laid on a Hereford road next month.

Overnight closures during the week will be in place on Newtown Road from January 6 and 24.

Traffic travelling north will be diverted via Newmarket Street, Blueschool Street, Commercial Road/Aylestone Hill and Roman Road, rejoining the A49 at the Starting Gate roundabout.

Am I missing something - thought that work was starting in Newmarket St at the same time and this stretch of road is being used as the Diversion route .

Perhaps this paper have not printed the full story or understood the diversion route.

Doesn't make sense - why would anyone lay a footpath on a road? HT and HC - they're made for each other.

A footpath is one of those muddy tracks across fields, do they mean a pavement or a footway ?

I fully accept that if there is a need for a footpath / pavement / sidewalk then it should be built. However just wondering why it wasn't planned when they were building the Parrot crossing ?

This article appears to display a small inaccuracy from what is usually the bugle of truth around the Herefordcestershire area.
I still will buy my copy with relish though and for only £2.40 it's a bargain into the bargain.
