A COLOURFUL new Christingle orange will be used during the annual service at Ledbury’s St Michael and All Angels Parish Church.

Each year on Christmas Eve, the church holds a Christingle service with each part of the orange having its own symbolic meaning.

The church got in touch with the design and technology department of John Masefield High School to see if they could help.

Year 10 students worked on the project with Simon McDonald, design technology technician.

Jill Jupp, from the church’s young church, said: “We are delighted with our new Christingle orange and very much appreciate the hard work and ingenuity of the pupils and staff.”

The pupils and staff have been have been invited to the Christingle service, which will take place at the church on Tuesday, December 24, at 4pm.

A Christingle is a symbolic object used in Advent services.
