POLICE are asking for help from the public in trying to locate an elderly man who has not been seen for nearly two weeks.

Austin Brookes, aged 72, was reported missing from his Marlowe Drive home in Hereford on Monday December 23 and is considered vulnerable due to his age and state of mind.

He is described as a white man, 5ft 8ins tall, with grey hair which is balding on top and always uses a walking stick.

Sergeant Emma Freer, from Hereford police station, said: “Mr Brookes left his home before Christmas and there have been no sightings of him since. Both his family and police are very concerned for his welfare.

“Mr Brookes had recently been in hospital and his green ford Focus car was found close to Hereford rugby club on Monday December 23.

“Officers have searched the area near the River Wye but current weather conditions are making the search more difficult.”

Anyone who thinks they saw Mr Brookes or his car around the time he went missing or knows where he is now should contact police on 101.
