A TEENAGER needed surgery after being kicked in the head and face at a Hereford nightclub.

The 18-year-old sustained a shattered cheek bone and eye socket, a broken jaw, missing teeth and extensive bruising following the attack at Play between 2am and 2.45am on Sunday.

It is alleged that he was pushed to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the face and head by a stranger at the Blueschool Street venue after being separated from his friends.

Police believe that the victim was helped by two other men, who took him into the beer garden to get help.

"We are very keen to speak to these two men," said Detective Constable Mel Reynolds.

"They may have seen what happened and provide a description of the attacker.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault.

“We want to stress that this was an extremely nasty incident – not some minor scuffle – which has left a young man with some very serious and extremely painful injuries."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 220s 120114 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
