A PLAN to put the county's heritage collections under the control of a charitable trust goes to Herefordshire Council's cabinet next week.
Cabinet is expected to back the soliciting of tenders from trusts to take over the council's museum service.
Even the Friar Street Museum Resource and Learning Centre is included in the scope of the transfer.
Cabinet, though, will have to weigh up the extent of funding support a trust would need from the council.
Initial indications from existing trusts suggest partnerships are "most unlikely" without a long term core funding commitment from the council.
