HEREFORDSHIRE actor John Challis has paid tribute to his Only Fools and Horses colleague Roger Lloyd-Pack, who has died, aged 69.
Roger was loved by millions for playing dim-witted road sweeper Trigger in the iconic BBC sitcom, which left audiences in fits of laughter.
His agent Maureen Vincent said that he suffered from pancreatic cancer and died at his home, surrounded by his family.
"I knew that he was ill, but I didn't know the true extend of it," said John, who played Boycie in Only Fools and Horses.
"I spoke to him on Monday and he did say that he was pretty bad.
"But the news of his death came as a complete shock, especially as we made arrangements to meet later in the week."
John, who lives in Wigmore, said that, despite Roger starring in the West End, it was his role as Trigger that everyone will remember him for.
"Roger had great integrity and took Trigger very seriously and created the character that everyone loved," said John.
"He was very proud of the character."

In Mother Naturer's Son
Denzil: It's closed!
Trigger: (checks watch) Well, it's a bit late, innit?
Del: What d'you mean 'a bit late?' You said it was open twenty-four hours a day.
Trigger: Yeah, but not at night.
From Homesick
Rodney: Why do you call me Dave, Trig’? My name’s not Dave, Its Rodney.
Trigger: Are you sure?
Rodney: Yes, I’ve checked it on my birth certificate and everything, it's definitely Rodney.
