THREE people were rescued from the River Wye in Hereford yesterday.

Police, the fire service and ambulance crews were all called to the river just after 3.20pm after a member of the public saw a woman go into the water near the rowing club.

A man jumped into the river off the old bridge to try and rescue the woman and was pulled out by the Victoria Bridge.

A second man then went into the river, who helped rescue the woman.

Both he and the woman were later found 100 yards downstream by Bartonsham Dairy.

All three people were taken to Hereford County Hospital and treated for hypothermia.

well venomot my friend well done, and likewise am happy that all parties would seem to be okay, I would also like to add, that I believe that you should be put forward for a royal humane society award, like the 2 police officers, who likewise went over and above what they are paid for, recetly saving some one from the waters, has anyone mentioned putting you forward ??? and if not why not, i hope these awards arnt just for public sectors workers, and If you havent been put forward for one, I propose that a campaign should be started to get you one. well done sir

venomot my friend i understand what you are saying but the police would say that what you did would be over and beyond what they would expect a police officer to do as can see be seen from the last person to fall in river at Lucsall campsite over festive period where one police officer held a torch for the other one who got on to a tree branch and held persons head above water, they are both up for Royal Humane Society awards as per what the police themselves were writing on here. Would just be nice for the police to show recognition publicly of what a member of the public has done and say they are putting that name forward as well. surely they cant be that self centred or not interested !!!!!!! I think despite what you say you should be recognised for your no doubt life saving efforts

Hi folks, just picked this one up after a few days away - would just like to reassure all (especially fmrbill) that the actions of the persons involved were reported on by the police duty inspector to the Herefordshire police senior management team. Both persons have been reported to the Royal Humane Society giving full details of their efforts. As these things take time to come back, both men have also received a letter of thanks from the patrol chief inspector at Hereford police station.
