TWO Herefordshire men are well on their way to a shining military career after passing out of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Senior under officer, Matthew Barnes, a former pupil of Hereford Cathedral School, was presented with the Sword of Honour in December, a prestigious accolade which is awarded to the officer cadet considered by the commandant to be the best of the course.
Jack Goring, aged 24 from Peterchurch, achieved the rank of Warrant Officer 2. Both attended Christ College in Brecon.
Matthew, 25, said that Sandhurst had been a 'tough and extremely rewarding challenge'.
