THE major Newmarket Street roadworks, due to start daytime work in February, will affect four Hereford bus routes.
Work to refurbish the city centre road, and create a pedestrian crossing at ‘Widemarsh Gate’, has already begun at night, but as of February 3 it will mean closing one lane in each direction during the day.
As a result Credenhill, Bobblestock, Belmont to Hampton Park, and school bus services to St Marys and the Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat School will see changes to their routes.
Changes to those timetables will be in place up until March 1.
While most journeys will still start and terminate at the City Bus station, the 71, 71a, 72 and 72a lines to Credenhill and Boblblestock will not serve the Shire Hall or Maylord Orchards shops.
The 75, 75A and 75B Belmont-City-Hampton Park route will be unchanged, but timings will differ.
The school services will run on the same timings but will not serve the Shire Hall stop.
Temporary timetables for all the routes affected can be viewed online here: http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/worcestershire_herefordshire/travel_news/service_updates/?item=10431&conf=0 .
