POLICE have issued CCTV images of a man they want to talk to in connection with the theft of alcohol and an assault in Ross-on-Wye.

The man is alleged to have gone into the Sainsbury’s store in The Maltings on Monday January 20 and attempt to steal bottles of alcohol.

When challenged, he is alleged to have assaulted the guard with a bottle he was holding.

Officers are keen to trace the man after several reports of vodka, whisky and wine were stolen from the same Sainsbury store on several dates.

Previous thefts of alcohol took place on December 29 2013, as well as eight other dates in January 2014.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images is urged to contact DC Daniel Underwood as soon as possible by calling 101 and asking for officers at Ross.
