AN interesting and lively year lies ahead at a city centre attraction.

Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum begins with Song of the Sea, which opens at the Foregate Street-based venue on Saturday, February 8 and should act as a way to escape the winter blues.

Enjoy stunning landscapes and seascapes by artists who were drawn to St Ives to capture the beauty of the British coastline.

This is followed by an exhibition entitled Skylight Landscape which features the evocative and vibrant work of Malvern Wells-based artist David Prentice and Paul Nash, with the focus falling on the inspirational landscape of the Malvern Hills.

Fancy Pants: A Celebration of Style 1920-1945 will showcase Museums Worcestershire's costume collection of gowns, party pieces and fashion from Saturday, July 12.

Then World War One: In the Words of Worcestershire People presents a fitting tribute of personal mementoes of the county's residents through letters, diaries and poems written during the First World War from Saturday, October 25.

The art gallery and museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
