Herefordshire Council budget meeting - update

Ledbury Reporter: Herefordshire Council has backed amendments to controversial plans. Herefordshire Council has backed amendments to controversial plans.

THE amendments just backed by Herefordshire Council allow schools and arts organisations at least another year to adjust to any new charging or funding arrangements.

Councillors Sebastian Bowen and John Stone proposed an amendment to re-instate free home to school transport based upon nearest in county or catchment - and for post-16s with SEN - planned for September.

This, the council heard, allowed for the creation of a “transition fund” to enable schools to develop responses to the changes.

Also approved is an amendment to re-instate arts commission grants for 2014/15  enabling organisations to plan for adjustments to their funding.

Councillors have also rejected an amendment to delay development of Hereford's link road so £100k could be set aside for voluntary sector.

I had to vote against the 3rd amendment as this would have jepodised the A465 to the A49 road being built and the South Wye peoplee would again have to wait many years for an alternative route.

Its Our County are against this road being built remember you have an excellent candidate as an independent for next eeks election to the Belmont Ward City Council.

Perhaps there could be a question and answer session with all candidates at a venue next week, then constituents can meet them all.

Adrian, it is good that you are communicating by posting but I have no idea what you are on about without further researching.
The only point that comes across is you are denigrating IOC who are your own fellow Independent elected Councillors, which says more about you than your comment!
