A LOCAL folk club has raised an average of £1000 a year for almost two decades, and the past year has been no exception.
At their meeting at Kempley Village Hall on Thursday January 30, members of Much Marcle Folk Club handed a a cheque of £1000 to Tony Lawrence, a representative of Acorns Children's Hospice.
The money was raised through club raffles, donations and tabletop sales, and it raised the total made for local charities, over the 19 years of the club's existence, to £19000.
The club returns to Much Marcle on March 6, when it meets for an evening in the Haywain Barn, at the historic manor house, Hellens.
