PUPILS at a county primary school have been getting creative this term.

Year-five pupils at St James C of E Primary School have been learning about Vikings this term and have been busy creating their own helmets, shields and axes for an exhibition held at the school last week.

Year-one and year-three pupils also presented Tattybogle – the story of a scarecrow who loves the elements that his job brings.

He loves the drumming rain on his hat and the wind that makes him dance.

One day the wind blows too hard and all that is left of him is an old stick and a new tree is born from the stick – The Tattybogle Tree.

Year-five teacher Ben Caldicott said both events were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
