THE life of Gertrude Bell, who helped to form modern-day Iraq, was the subject of an illustrated talk given by local expert Jan Long to the residents of Leadon Bank Care Home.
The residents enjoyed hearing about the like of this extraraordinary woman, who acted as interpreter for Winston Churchill and King Faisal.
The home's activity coordinator, Ursula Ashworth, said: It is very important for our elderly residents to engage in a programme of activities which supports the pursuit of good physical and emotional health. We are most grateful to Jan for providing our residents with such a stimulation afternoon through an informative talk on Gertrude Bell's life and achievements."
Following the lecture, residents enjoyed a fish-and-chip supper.
